J.T. Alpaugh, Vice President, Technical Operations
J.T. Alpaugh joined the Helinet Aviation team in 2003 after consulting for the company for the previous eight years. His career prior to joining Helinet consisted of over twenty years experience working in the Los Angeles Electronic News Gathering (ENG) market for several major networks.
J.T. has accumulated over 15,000 flight hours in helicopters and brings a valuable operational understanding to all aspects of airborne imagery and technologies. A Veteran Reserve Police Officer with the Los Angeles Police Department since 1990, J.T. is assigned to the elite Air Support Division as a Tactical Flight Officer. His main responsibility with Air Support is to help maintain officer and public safety over incidents by providing tactical communications and the operation of the technologies aboard the department's police helicopters to apprehend suspects. This has given him a thorough understanding of Airborne Law Enforcement and the unique technologies that are used to support those specific type of missions.
J.T. applies his experience and understanding in the combined fields to manage the technical operations infrastructure for Helinet Aviation. He has a unique insight into Helinet Aviation's news and law enforcement clients' needs to acquire and support the technologies that keep them flying and producing superior real time tactical imaging. During Hurricane Katrina and Rita in the summer of 2005, J.T. operated the Cineflex V-14 HD camera system to provide the world with exclusive live images and broadcast reporting over New Orleans and the Gulf Coast in a Helinet Aviation helicopter designated as the pool aircraft by all the major media outlets. The detailed imaging was also utilized by the agencies conducting rescue operations throughout the region.
